Campsie Hub Feasibility Study
The City of Canterbury-Bankstown engaged Hawkridge Entertainment Services to deliver the Campsie Hub Feasibility Study. Positioned in the heart of the Campsie Civic Precinct, this new cultural infrastructure initiative aims to create a dynamic, multi-use facility that will foster cultural engagement, enhance community participation, and support economic development.
Our team conducted an extensive business intelligence assessment, evaluating the strategic and operational viability of integrating a library, community spaces, a music hub, a public plaza and upgrades to the Orion Theatre. The study examined the potential impact of the hub on Campsie’s cultural ecosystem, its role in place-making and the opportunities it presents for the creative industries.
Key strategic considerations included governance models, operational frameworks and financial sustainability. The study explored various management structures comparing an integrated model, where all facilities operate under a unified management structure, against a separated model, where each component is managed independently. Findings highlighted that an integrated approach would optimise resource allocation, improve coordination and enhance the hub’s long-term sustainability.
The feasibility study also included detailed market analysis, demographic insights and benchmarking against similar cultural precincts. Campsie’s growing population, rich cultural diversity and strategic location within the Sydney metropolitan area reinforce the demand for high-quality cultural infrastructure. The study provided a clear roadmap for Council, outlining key recommendations for governance, funding, programming and community engagement.
Hawkridge’s final report delivered a comprehensive strategy ensuring that the Campsie Cultural Hub is positioned as a financially viable, community-driven asset that strengthens local identity and economic resilience. By aligning with broader urban renewal initiatives, the Hub will become a catalyst for social and cultural activation, reinforcing Campsie’s role as a vibrant, accessible and inclusive cultural destination.
