Wollondilly Shire Council engaged Hawkridge Entertainment Services to develop a business case for the Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre. The business case provides a range of information about the project and was part of the Councils successful Grant application to the Create NSW Creative Capital fund.
The fund aims to provide $60 million in strategic funding over two years for the delivery of new and improved cultural infrastructure across NSW. The fund also seeks to meet the demands for facilities to support the creative economy and improve access to, and participation in, quality cultural experiences across NSW.
The new 350+ seat Performing Arts Centre is Stage 1 of the Wollondilly Cultural Precinct. The beautiful new building will provide a state-of-the-art local venue for music, theatre, exhibitions and civic events. In addition, it will also be a major injection into the cultural life of Picton and the wider Wollondilly area.
The architectural design of the new multi-purpose building is dramatic and will be on display to visitors entering the Picton town centre. Further, the development application was approved with a condition that the architect’s vision for the building is followed through. This is to ensure that the finished project will be impressive and do justice to the prominent location.
This project is funded by grants including the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, developer contributions and building renewal funds.
