Wollondilly Council has recently approved the concept design for the new Picton Performing Arts Centre. The Performing Arts Centre is a 350-seat multi-format venue to be delivered in stage one of the Wollondilly Community Cultural and Civic Precinct masterplan.
Hawkridge Entertainment Services has been assisting Wollondilly Council with the development of a Strategic Review of the Performance Space including analysing the current venues and hirers in the region and the
Further, HES analysed the potential hirers to understand venue technical requirements, outlined in detail what the space should comprise including but not limited to back of house and front of house facilities, technical requirements, stage size etc. and provided recommendations for design elements not currently outlined.
The final report outlined the proposed business objectives both in the short and long term, developed the organisational/management structure and established a draft annual budget to reflect estimated ongoing costs for council.
The main uses for the space will include:
- Dance performances
- Theatre performances
- Contemporary music performances
- Classical music performances
- Comedy performances
- Small school events
- Community events
- Dinners, cabaret and catered events
- Civic functions and public lectures
Construction of the Performing Arts Centre is expected to begin by June 2022, with all other elements of stage one expected to be complete by then.
