Tim Long from Hawkridge Entertainment Services recently presented a workshop session on “Stepping through economic impact” at PAC Australia’s APAX 2023 conference in Cairns.
The Australian Performing Arts Exchange (APAX) is the national market and professional development gathering of more than 450 performing arts workers to develop tours and cultivate the relationships that deliver presentation outcomes for audiences and communities across Australia.
Since its inception, APAX has shifted the dial in the sector, from transactional market environments to a focused, relationship-based platform which prioritises connecting presenters, producers, and artists so that the right work reaches the right audience, at the right time.
Alongside a range of pitching, showcasing and networking opportunities, APAX supports the professional development of delegates, showcases sector innovation and best practice and supports industry renewal through knowledge exchange.
APAX 2023 was hosted in Cairns from 28 August to 1 September 2023, with an online Advance Pitching Program on Thursday 17 August 2023. The conference saw 400+ producers, artists and presenters come together for a week of deep exploration and engagement, reflecting upon what’s next in performing arts presenting and touring.
Tim Long commented, “It was great to help venues, producers, and organisations understand the broader economic, social and cultural impact of their work and more importantly how to measure it. The conference was an incredible opportunity to meet people from across Australia and catch up with colleagues.”
